Where I Stand

As a Father of a four-year-old, I understand how important Pre-K is for making sure ALL kids are prepared for kindergarten. This would provide voluntary preschool to every four-year-old in the Commonwealth. By investing in our youngest learners today, we are ensuring Kentucky’s kids are ready for kindergarten, helping 40,000+ parents return to the workforce, and saving families an average of $7,000 a year in childcare costs. It’s an investment in our families, our economy, and our future.
Schools are pushing too many kids to college while leaving many young people out in the wind. We must create a pipeline to push more kids into unionized trade apprenticeship programs. With Boomers retiring more every year, we need to build the workforce to build our future. These jobs aren’t easily replaced by robots and provide an honest retirement path. With McCracken County being home to many trade union halls, there is a perfect opportunity to support the surrounding counties.
For years, the Kentucky GOP has passed economic policy without public fiscal notes. This hiding the true impact of their policies. We must mandate fiscal notes on every major economic bill in the name of transparency. The public deserves to know the impact of laws we are passing.
For decades, Republicans have cried “states’ rights” while being the soldiers for A.L.E.C.’s corporate policy machine. This has turned GOP State Legislators into representatives for the most powerful corporations in the US instead of representatives for their constituents. This blatant corruption must end
